Port-au-Prince, Haiti — Three state secretaries in Michel Martelly’s cabinet have a foreign nationality, according to statements from Senator Jean Charles Moise on March 7, 2012 about the preliminary results of a study by the senate commission of inquiry to which he belongs.

Senator Moise informed the press that:

UPDATE #1. March 8, 2012. Official announcement of the resignations of three members of the Senate Commission of Inquiry on dual citizenships, Joseph Lambert, Youri Latortue and Yvon Buissereth. Port-au-Prince, Haiti, 7 mars 2012 — Trois secrétaires d’Etat de l’équipe de Michel Martelly ont une nationalité étrangère, selon ce qu’a fait savoir le sénateur Jean Charles Moise ce 7 mars, dévoilant les résultats préliminaires de l’enquête de la commission sénatoriale à laquelle il appartient.

La Constitution haïtienne en vigueur ne reconnait pas la double nationalité et ne permet pas à un individu détenteur d’une nationalité étrangère d’exercer une haute fonction publique.

Le sénateur Moise Jean Charles explique également que le premier ministre désigné Laurent Lamothe a déposé un passeport devant la commission d’enquête datant de 2005 à 2010. La commission n’a pas les documents de voyage de Lamothe à partir de 2010, ajoute le sénateur.

« La situation du premier ministre désigné est extrêmement complexe »,

fait-il savoir, annonçant qu’une lettre a été envoyée à Laurent Lamothe pour qu’il soumette les documents manquants.

Moise rappelle aussi qu’il existe de sérieux doutes sur la nationalité du chef de l’Etat, Michel Martelly.

Par ailleurs il indique que la commission a décidé de mettre de côté l’investigation sur la nationalité du premier ministre démissionnaire, Garry Conille.

MISE À JOUR, le 8 mars 2012. Annonce officielle de la démission de trois des membres de la commission sénatoriale d’investigation sur la double nationalité, Joseph Lambert, Youri Latortue et Yvon Buissereth. Lors d’une conference de presse dans l’après midi, Martelly, qui a jusqu’à présent refusé de soumettre ses documents de voyage au Senat Haitien, a soumis 8 passeports au Monseigneur Pierre-André Dumas et demandé à L’ambassadeur américain, Kenneth Merten de verifier qu’il est un citoyen haïtien.

MISE À JOUR, le 28 mars 2012. La Ministre du Tourisme Stephanie B. Villedrouin a la nationalité américaine et l’habitude de voter lors des élections aux Etats Unis, selon le document présenté par le Député Arnel Belizaire à la commission sénatoriale chargée d’enquêter sur les nationalités des membres de l’exécutif.
